Sharing meals with our Lord, leaning your head on His chest after a meal. I wouldn't have understood the big picture any better than they did. But, how amazingly wonderful to have Jesus greet you with a huge fraternal hug after He came down from prayer time on the hilltops.

I think he smiles sadly when we turn away and beams with pride when we come back to Him. He is with us until the end of the age and yet we yearn for His touch. Like a beloved friend too often separated from our presence. The Apostles loved Him as a friend before they understood that He was God. We know that he is God and yearn to greet Him with the warm hug of friendship. The love of our Friend is close and yet too far. Lord, bring us near, enfold us in Your arms. We love you and yearn for you. Amen.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04879065898537009269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-829078926876184689.post-54776372093875862722011-06-02T09:40:28.037-05:002011-06-02T09:40:28.037-05:00Winston, you paint a vividly stunning image of fri...Winston, you paint a vividly stunning image of friendship and loss. No matter the consolation of the Holy Spirit, the apostles would have missed Jesus--as friend, brother, and rabbi. Most likely, Jesus would miss them as well. Thank you for your profound observations--you've made the Gospel very real.Brad Birzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01842884665825231415noreply@blogger.com
